Students use their Laptops to Tackle the Question of Invasive Species
Presenters: Phil Brookhouse, MLTI & Alexa Dayton, Gulf of Maine Research Institute
An inquiry-based investigation using the real data available on the Vital Signs website. This process involves rigor, relevance, and can cross all disciplines.

Dealing with invasive species is a real problem that demands real investigation. Vital Signs is a project of the Gulf of Maine Research Institute that invites teachers and students to ask essential questions, observe and collect authentic data, and contribute to an ever-growing database. The data are then reviewed by experts and made available to the public on the Vital Signs website. In this workshop, participants will have the chance to use and analyze these data, using tools on the MLTI MacBooks, and then project the data points onto Google Maps and Google Earth.
